    • ]]>     Faultline o David Kosten. David Kosten o Faultline. Tanto monta, monta tanto. Experimentador y productor nato, ha parido dos discos con colaboraciones de gourmet: Closer Colder en 1999 y Your Love Means Everything en 2002. Y en este último sacó dos canciones del mismo nombre que el álbum. La primera sin letra. Tan solo instrumental… pero a la que le sobran las palabras (sería una banda sonora ideal para Twin Peaks).

    Y luego la parte 2 de esta misma canción, con la voz de todo-lo-que-toco-lo-convierto-en-oro Chris Martin (por cierto… ojalá se cumplan los rumores de Coldplay en el BBK Live 2011…¡a ver si anuncian ya algún triste grupo!):

    • ]]>     Hoy toca un poco de relajo de la mano de los franceses Air y esta gran canción que forma parte de la banda sonora de Las Vírgenes Suicidas, la ópera prima de la cachorrilla de Coppola. Película que me encantó e inquietó a partes iguales (y que terminó de encumbrar a Kirsten Dunst).

    Las colaboraciones entre Sofia Coppola y Air han sido numerosas: Lost in Translation, María Antonieta, …

    Ésta va sin letra pero con un piano que lo llena todo.

    • ]]>     Los padres del trip-hop vuelven a la carga con nuevo disco recién salidito del horno: Heligoland (Febrero de 2010). No se sabe si el nombre viene de la contracción de Hell Ego Land o del archipiélago alemán. El caso es que lo estrenan con esta canción en boca de la norteamericana Hope Sandoval. Y otras grandes colaboraciones como la del guitarrista de Portishead, Adrian Utley. El arranque me recuerda un poco al Everything In Its Right Place de Radiohead.

    Cuatro años de silencio han pasado desde su anterior álbum y mucho más desde su exitazo Tear Drop. Bienvenidos sean de nuevo. Les echábamos de menos.

    • ]]>     PersépolisHoy la entrada no puede ser más cinematográfica. Todos hemos tarareado la archiconocida sintonía de la película Rocky a cargo del grupo Survivor cuando estábamos haciendo algún tipo de ejercicio.

    De ésta nació una versión para la película Persépolis (os recomiendo encarecidamente que os leáis el comic de Marjane Satrapi). Y ahora se está usando esta misma versión en el último anuncio del Volkswagen Polo.

    La voz ejecutora es, nada más y nada menos que la hija de Catherine Deneuve y Marcello Mastroianni: Chiara. Actriz y cantante (con esos genes bastante si no ha salido trompetista también). Ya os dije que la cosa iba más de imagen que de música ;-)

    • ]]>     AirLa recomendación de esta semana viene de la mano de Sahib. Se trata de una banda francesa de música electrónica (sí, Mak, ya sé lo que vas a decir :P ) que está en el álbum Moon Safari (1998). Os dejo con él:

    Poco se puede decir de esta canción que no se haya dicho en sus 10 años de vida. Para mí es la que levanta lentamente mi ánimo cuando estoy en momentos de bajón (bueno realmente todo el disco lo hace) y ésta en especial es la que más me ayuda.

    La pareja del vídeo oficial eran amigos del director Mike Mills. Poco después del rodaje se separaron. Una pena.

    Podéis escuchar la canción sin tanta parafernalia del videoclip en goear.

    • ]]>     Nitin Sawhney - Homelands [Recomendación]Hacía tiempo que no ponía una recomendación externa. Y no es porque no tenga (hay unas cuantas en lista de espera…), pero tendréis que perdonar a la que escribe porque es un desastre. Ésta viene de la mano de Duczen:

    Hay unas cuantas buenas canciones contenidas en ese trabajo de Nitin Sawhney (Beyond skin, 1999). Tal vez la más conocida es Letting go. Es un tema impresionantemente evocador. Por demasiados motivos que no vienen al caso a mí me recuerda a ese tipo de nostalgia agradable que se nutre de la tristeza y la melancolía, pero anteriormente me producía ternura y una deliciosa sensación de felicidad relajada… aunque yo siempre he preferido homelands (mi recomendación), porque además de transmitirme también todo lo anterior, me hace sentir que en este mundo vivimos muchas almas, todas diferentes y todas iguales, que podemos compartir belleza. Es un magistral ejemplo de fusión cultural.
