Como diría Loretahur, ha roto mi silencio.

Todo empezó un día de trabajo de esos en que no sabes si cortarte las venas o dejártelas largas. Con la oreja pinchada a last.fm, empieza a sonar algo nuevo, fresco. Y seguido, empieza a sonar el teléfono. Mientras hablo con el teléfono-auricular en una oréjula, en la otra mantengo el pc-auricular. Corchos. Me llaman a consultas. Al final me voy a perder la canción. Memorizo el nombre del artista (la artista) y marcho a la reunión.

Ese mismo día, por la tarde, haciendo unos pedidos en Amazon, un nombre acude a mi mente. Amy MacDonald. Busco en Amazon. Tiene un álbum CD: This is the Life. Invadido por alguna suerte de extraña fiebre, lo encargo. Y llega. Y descubro una pedazo de artista Escocesa, nacida en 1987, que desde pequeña (dicen) apuntaba ya maneras musicales.

Su acento tiene algo de hipnótico. No es sólo la música (ella toca la guitarra, pero claro: tiene acompañamientos). Si la oyes hablar, ni siquiera reconoces su voz. Sin embargo, cantando se transporta a otra dimensión y te arrastra por un río serpenteante con zonas tranquilas y otras revueltas.

Mezcla de country, rock y melodía dulce, tiene más sonidos que silencios. No podemos citarlos todos ahora, porque sería un desequilibrio.

Tengo varias canciones que me chiflan (no todo el monte es orégano ni todo el disco es igual de adictivo, aunque ninguna desmerece). “This is the Life”, la que da nombre al álbum es muy buena. Run, Footbolers Wife (con ese arranque súbito y misterioso), Caledonia, … Pero debo elegir una y sólo una. Y me voy a decantar por la que
todavía no he nombrado: “Mr Rock & Roll”.
