Para terminar la semana traemos carne fresca. Broken Bells es un grupo americano que apenas lleva un añito componiendo y cuenta ya con un álbum homónimo en el mercado. Sin embargo, sus dos componentes son perros viejos: James Mercer (guitarrista y voz de The Shins) y Brian Burton (también conocido como Danger Mouse y 1/2 de Gnarls Barkley). El 14 de diciembre del año pasado la banda, en un alarde de frikismo, mandó por correo electrónico un mensaje en código binario con el siguiente texto «The High Road is hard to find» y un enlace a su página web. El 21 de diciembre lanzaron su single de debut «The High Road» y lo pusieron a disposición de sus fans para su descarga gratuita.
El principio de la canción despista un poco, pero luego, con las guitarras, gana cuerpo. Y como no, os dejo con un directo en el show de David Letterman (aquí tenéis el vídeoclip):

Hacía mucho que no ponía un clasicazo y para hacer que este pecado no fuera sólo de pensamiento, aún se habían pasado por aquí los Smashing Pumpkins. Así que toca reparar este despropósito y en vez de enmendarme con un Ave María, lo haré con un Tonight, Tonight. 
Esta banda norteamericana está a punto de estrenar su quinto álbum: High Violet (el 10 de mayo en Europa, para ser más concretos) pero ha ido ya desgranando cuáles serán las piezas del mismo con una promoción muy curiosa y distribuida: estrenaron una canción en la televisión, otra en la radio y por último, también usaron su página web para dejar escuchar su música, al igual que la web de The New York Times, donde estuvo a disposición del público la escucha en streaming en el mes de abril.
