Muse – Starlight

A raíz de este mashup entre Muse y The Killers, me he acordado de Starlight (Black Holes & Revelations, 2006). Muse, una banda inglesa con cuatro álbumes de estudio a sus espaldas (más el último que de directos), ha marcado un antes y después en el rock alternativo. Esos falsetes inconfundibles de Matthew Bellamy son ya todo un sello personal. Y los arpegios que se marcan en esta canción, son también increíbles.

Se ha abierto un nuevo hilo en el grupo Silencio para ir recopilando mashups que conozcáis. El «culpable» de esto es el nuevo programa de Radio 3: Vavá.

Arctic Monkeys – Brianstorm

Arctic MonkeysHablaba hoy en mi otro cajón de desastre sobre el poder de Internet para dar a conocer nuevas bandas y de lo poco que lo utilizan algunas discográficas, ya sea por desconocimiento o miedo. Uno de los mejores ejemplos ha sido Arctic Monkeys, grupo inglés que se promocionó enormemente gracias a la viralidad de la Red.

Brianstorm está en el segundo álbum de la banda, Favourite Worst Nightmare (2007) y es un chute de energía. Como curiosidad, saber que sale la hermana de la Spice Girl Melanie B, como bailarina del videoclip.

Thirteen Senses – Into The Fire

Thirteen SensesHaciendo un break en mis vacaciones os dejo esta canción de Thirteen Senses.

Esta banda es relativamente nueva. Su primer disco, The invitation, (en el que podemos encontrar esta melodía), vio la luz en 2004. La podéis encontrar en multitud de bandas sonoras de series: Anatomía de Grey, Los 4400, Urgencias, … Ahora está en la banda sonora de mi vida 😉

The Pretenders – Human

The PretendersPodemos encontrar sobre los escenarios a Chrissie Hynde (elemento constante) y sus chicos (estos han ido variando con el tiempo) desde 1978. Y es que The Pretenders (junto con Texas) es de esos grupos que llevan toda una vida dando guerra y música, y de los que conoces algún tema: Brass in Pocket, I’ll Stand by You, Don’t get me wrong, … Y aún así tienen fuerzas para sacar disco nuevo: Break Up The Concrete. No saldrá a la venta hasta septiembre, sin embargo, podremos descargar todas sus canciones de forma gratuita desde su página web. Cada semana irán colgando una. Esta semana ya podemos disfrutar de Boots of Chinese Plastic. ¿Está la industria cambiando? Si los grandes dinosaurios se mueven, puede que estemos a las puertas de una evolución.

Bruce Springsteen – Streets Of Philadelphia

PhiladelphiaYa estaba tardando el Boss en pasarse por este blog. Anoche me dí cuenta de mi error viendo la película Philadelphia (una de las primeras que recuerdo en la que se trataron dos temas tabú: el sida y la homosexualidad, de la mano de Tom Hanks y Denzel Washington). Este poeta urbano puso letra y voz a la que sería la ganadora del Oscar a la mejor canción en 1993.

No os puedo poner el videoclip original aquí, porque no he podido encontrar uno en youtube que permitiese la inserción en páginas externas (¡cuestión que no entiendo!), así que os dejo con éste:
