Peter Gabriel – The Book Of Love [Recomendación]

The Book of lovePrimera recomendación tras el parón veraniego. Viene de la mano de Nacho, persona inlinkeable… por el momento 😉 , con el que comparto gustos musicales. Varias son las sugerencias que me ha mandado, pero ésta me ha gustado especialmente. Os dejo con él:

Hoy me ocurrió algo curioso… estuve todo el día trabajando en Madrid y a la vuelta a casa en AVE un poco agotado, la verdad, me quedé totalmente dormido con los cascos del hilo musical del tren. Al despertar ya casi llegando a Málaga sonaba la siguiente canción y mi primer pensamiento fue que era un sonido tan dulce, triste, y una voz tan sumamente característica la de Peter Gabriel que seguro que, en caso de no conocer la canción, podría ser de las que te encantarían.

Y, por supuesto, estaba en la cierto 🙂 . Se trata de una versión de Peter Gabriel para la película ¿Bailamos? de la canción de The Magnetic Fields. Otra melodía más para nuestra pelea de versiones en el grupo Silencio.

Bruce Springsteen – Streets Of Philadelphia

PhiladelphiaYa estaba tardando el Boss en pasarse por este blog. Anoche me dí cuenta de mi error viendo la película Philadelphia (una de las primeras que recuerdo en la que se trataron dos temas tabú: el sida y la homosexualidad, de la mano de Tom Hanks y Denzel Washington). Este poeta urbano puso letra y voz a la que sería la ganadora del Oscar a la mejor canción en 1993.

No os puedo poner el videoclip original aquí, porque no he podido encontrar uno en youtube que permitiese la inserción en páginas externas (¡cuestión que no entiendo!), así que os dejo con éste:

David GrayDavid Gray es uno de esos artistas con una carrera enorme sobre sus hombros (15 años intentando ganarse las lentejas con esto), a pesar de que en España no haya pegado nunca un despunte. Tengo muchas canciones suyas dentro de mi lista de preferidas. Sin embargo, me voy a quedar con este «The One I Love«, canción melancólica narrada desde la perspectiva de un soldado herido de muerte, pensando en su gran amor.

SealSeguimos con bandas sonoras (hay que reconocer que el mundo del celuloide y las series escogen bien las melodías que les acompañan…). Hoy toca esta mítica canción de Seal, que se dio a conocer gracias a Batman Forever. Un baladón que necesitó de una película para darse a conocer. Por cierto, está abierto en el foro de Silencio el hilo «B.S.O que más os ha aportado”. Aportad vosotros también 😉

Citizen Cope – Sideways

Citizen CopeEsta canción la descubrí dentro de la banda sonora de la serie Scrubs. Una serie de humor pero que siempre tiene un toque de tristeza. Citizen Cope es el seudónimo de Clarence Greenwood, todo un hombre orquesta que toca la guitarra, el piano, compone, es DJ, … Podéis también encontrar esta canción en el álbum Shaman de Carlos Santana, en la que acompaña a Clarence con la guitarra.
