The Source & Candi Staton – You Got The Love

You Got The LoveEl otro día, escuchando el disco debut de Florence + The Machine, una canción me sonaba especialmente. Y era esta versión de You Got The Love. Si os gustaba el programa de televisión Planeta Finito (famosos recorriendo ciudades del mundo), conoceréis de sobra esta melodía, pues era la cabecera del mismo.

Pero yo me sigo quedando con el remix que hizo The Source junto a la voz de Candi Staton, una cantante soul que brilló con fuerza en la época de los 70 y que volvió a la escena en 1991 con esta canción. La versión original fue escrita en 1986 por Anthony B. Stephens, Arnecia Michelle Harris y John Bellamy. Un poco de ritmo para terminar la semana.

The Presidents of the United States of America – Lump

presidentsNo es Obama, ni Bush. Ni siquiera Reagan (que era el más coqueto). Los auténticos presidentes de Estados Unidos son unos chicos de Seatle que llevan en el poder desde 1993. Eso sí, han tenido unos cuantos altibajos durante su carrera, con múltiples separaciones y un buen lío con la discográfica Columbia Records cuando ésta editó en el 2000 el disco recopilatorio Lump sin el consentimiento de la banda.

Un poquito de ritmo para el martes con esta canción que es ya un clásico (a la par que viejuna: apareció en su disco debut). No os podéis perder las parodias que se han hecho de ella.

Florence + The Machine – Between Two Lungs

florence-and-the-machines-lungFlorence + The Machine es un proyecto de la joven cantante londinense Florence Welch, un animal de escenario con una voz negra poderosa y una energía desbordante.

Esta melodía que combina todo tipo de instrumentos con un estilo elegante y exquisito, está dentro de su disco de debut: Lungs (2009). Me hizo mucha gracia cuando leí una entrevista a Florence en la que comentaba que «compone sus mejores temas cuando está borracha o resacosa; es entonces cuando la música libre y asilvestrada aparece«. Habrá que probar hoy domingo a componer algo 😉

Feist – My Moon, My Man

The reminder¿Nunca os ha pasado que veis un anuncio en televisión y os gusta la canción que lo acompaña pero no hay manera humana de saber a quién pertenece? Pues ese es el caso de esta proclama de Movistar. Después de buscar en foros y páginas, de pasar la sintonía por el caza-canciones del android, etc… sólo me ha quedado recurrir a tito Beni (mi caza-canciones personal del trabajo ;-)).

Él ha conseguido averiguar que la canción se ha hecho exclusivamente para el anuncio y dura menos de un minuto. Eso sí, la base parece ser esta melodía de Feist. No conocía a esta cantautora canadiense pero me ha parecido un sonido muy elegante. Así que ha valido la pena la búsqueda.

Aimee Mann – You Could Make a Killing

Aimee_Mann_-_I'm_With_StupidLunes. Viento sur azotando nuestras cabezas (hace unos años se podía considerar como atenuante en caso de cometer un crimen). Así que no es de sorprender que el silencio seleccionado para hoy sea este You could make a killing de Aimee Mann, una gran cantautora norteamericana que ya se ha pasado con anterioridad por aquí. Al igual que con Wise Up, que formaba parte de la banda sonora de Magnolia, ésta melodía aparece en la película Crueles Intenciones, además de en su segundo álbum I’m with Stupid (1995).

Que conste que no es una declaración de intenciones 😉
