Aqualung – Brighter Than Sunshine

still-lifeVolvemos a la carga tras el receso en las islas afortunadas y lo hacemos de nuevo con Aqualung. Ya no os puedo contar mucho más de este artistazo. Así que casi mejor destripamos la canción: formó parte del álbum Still Life (2003) y también de la banda sonora de la película Muy parecido al amor y por supuesto, de la serie reina de las canciones 😉

Hoy, el día está lluvioso por el norte y eso nos hace valorar aún más la luz del sol, así que todo lo que sea más brillante que ella, tiene que ser un gran tesoro. La frase con la que me quedo: I didn’t have the strength to fight. A buen entendedor, pocas palabras bastan.

The Fratellis – Chelsea Dagger

Costello MusicTras la melodía intimista de ayer, hoy toca una canción gamberra, muy del estilo de la última que pinchamos de Mando Diao.

Chelsea Dagger, de los escoceses The Fratellis, fue su segundo sencillo en su álbum debut: Costello Music (2006). Ha aparecido en numerosas películas (Shrek 3, Lío embarazoso, …) y está muy pegada al mundo del fútbol (sobre todo por el estribillo, tan fácil de corear). Tened cuidado, porque una vez que entra en vuestra cabeza, es difícil sacarlo 😉

La Habitación Roja – El Eje Del Mal

la-habitacion-roja-nuevos-tiemposUna semana en silencio (literal) entre pitos y flautas (ando hasta arriba de trabajo… no os penséis). Así que retomaremos el ritmo con un poco de pop-rock indie español. Estos valencianos llevan dando guerra desde 1995 y tienen ya seis álbumes en el mercado. Este Eje del Mal está en su quinto trabajo: Nuevos tiempos (2005), donde se consagraron definitivamente tras su salto a la discográfica Mushroom Pillow.

Una forma interesante para dar por finiquitado algo. Se puede decir más alto pero no más claro.

Starsailor – Tell Me It’s Not Over

all the plansHoy he escuchado lo nuevo de Starsailor, All the Plans y no he podido quitarme de la cabeza esta canción. Ya tuvimos por aquí a esta banda inglesa con su archiconocido Four To The Floor. Para el cuarteto comandado por James Walsh éste ya es el cuarto disco en el mercado. Además os traigo en exclusiva la versión a dúo con Brandon Flowers (The Killers).

La letra de la canción, como siempre, acompaña mi día a día. Hace poco sentía en mis carnes la peor sensación que existe: la decepción. El cabreo se me suele pasar rápido. La decepción es algo que persiste, que cambia las cosas. Me decían que la culpa era mía, por confiar en quien no se lo merecía. Supongo que tendrán razón, pero es que el ser humano es el único que tropieza dos veces con la misma piedra y se intenta convencer una y otra vez de que las cosas no se han acabado.

Me quedo con All my old war stories take me back again. Vivo en el día de la marmota.

Aqualung – Glimmer

aqualungAqualung es el nombre en clave de Matt Hales, un cantautor inglés que ya desde los 12 años sabía que se quería dedicar a esto del silencio.

Este rayo de música está dentro de un álbum imprescindible: Memory Man (2007). El hombre-escafandra, junto a su mujer y su hermano, crea un sonido elegante acompañado de grandes letras.

Me encanta la pasión que le pone a la parte del: Everyday, everyday, living my life like it’s over. Like it’s over and deep underground.. Y más en días como el de hoy…
