Travis – Something Anything

Ode To J. SmithSeptiembre es el mes de la vuelta al cole, los coleccionables de quioscos, los premios para blogs y sobre todo, y más importante, de los nuevos discos.

Uno de los grupos que estrena álbum es Travis, que hoy ha lanzado su primer single: Something Anything. Canción que pude escuchar en directo hace un mes 🙂 .

El sexto disco de estudio de la banda se llamará Ode To J. Smith y saldrá a la venta el 24 de septiembre en Japón, el 29 en Inglaterra y por fin, el 10 de octubre en España. Curiosa esta venta escalonada que hacen.

Embrace – Gravity

EmbraceVolvemos a la carga con el repertorio musical. Este mes se presenta cargadito de novedades en discos. Ya los iré presentando a medida que salgan. Pero hoy traigo un poco de gravedad para poner los pies en la tierra y dejar de flotar como lo he hecho en estas vacaciones. Vuelta a la rutina.

Gracias a last.fm, que sabe de muy buena tinta que me encanta el britpop, conocí a Embrace (no confundir con la banda americana del mismo nombre). Y como también sabe que mi grupo favorito es Coldplay, me recomendó este Gravity, canción que fue compuesta por Chris Martin para Embrace allá por el 2002 y que luego fue versionada por ellos mismos en el DVD «Talk». ¿Con cuál os quedáis vosotros? Yo lo tengo claro, pero es que no soy nada objetiva… 😉 Por cierto, el inicio de piano me pone la piel de gallina.

Travis – Closer

The Boy With No NameAyer de nuevo me lo pasé en grande viendo a Travis. Esta vez con más espacio (vino mucha menos gente que al concierto de Amaral) y más cerca del escenario. Así pude ver de cerca a Fran Whealy (voz), un gran animador de masas (muy salado), a Andrew Dunlop (guitarra), un loco que se descolgó por los andamios del escenario mientras seguía tocando la guitarra, a Douglas Payne (bajo), que apenas se movió de su posición en todo el concierto mientras mascaba chicle, Neil Primrose (batería) y por supuesto a Klaus, el teclista de zapatos blancos impecables y sin calcetines (esto último sólo lo entenderán los que estuvieron allí).

Pudimos disfrutar de sus canciones más míticas: Sing, Turn, Closer, Side, Flowers in the Window, All I Want to Do Is Rock, … Pero también de algunas de las que serán sus nuevas melodías que saldrán a la venta en septiembre en su nuevo disco: Ode To J. Smith. Su primer single será Something Anything. Lo podéis escuchar ya en su MySpace.

Aquí tenéis una crítica más amplia del concierto. La única pega que les pongo es que no hiciesen esa mítica versión de Britney Spears X’DDD

Thirteen Senses – Into The Fire

Thirteen SensesHaciendo un break en mis vacaciones os dejo esta canción de Thirteen Senses.

Esta banda es relativamente nueva. Su primer disco, The invitation, (en el que podemos encontrar esta melodía), vio la luz en 2004. La podéis encontrar en multitud de bandas sonoras de series: Anatomía de Grey, Los 4400, Urgencias, … Ahora está en la banda sonora de mi vida 😉

Coldplay – Fix You

coldplayRepite de nuevo Coldplay en este blog. Esta vez lo hace con una canción que está dentro de su disco X&Y (2004). Y es que últimamente la escucho una y otra vez porque describe a la perfección mi situación anímica actual. Esperemos que estas vacaciones y la desconexión de todo y todos los que me rodean pueda ayudar a que me haga un «auto-fix».

Por cierto, viendo el vídeo, cada vez me dan más ganas de escaparme al concierto que darán en Barcelona el 6 de septiembre o al de Madrid el 7.
