Chairlift – Bruises

Domingo otra vez. Llevo unos fines de semana que no me cunden porque me toca trabajar (a otros niveles que los de la oficina). Mover cajas, quitar papel, colocar cosas, descolocarlas, … Y para aguantar el ritmo nada mejor que este trío americano. La voz de Caroline me relaja mucho, pero a la vez, esa base de pop electrónico me da energía.

Bruises es el primer single de su segundo disco: Does You Inspire You (2008). Seguro que los amantes de la manzanita habrán reconocido rápidamente la canción porque fue usada en el anuncio del iPod Nano de cuarta generación. No os perdías esta versión con un violín eléctrico. Mañana empezaremos el lunes con otra cara :-).

Radiohead – Everything In Its Right Place

Radiohead - Kid AEl último anuncio de Cuatro promocionando Lost me ha traído a mi mente musical esta melodía de Radiohead que me tranquiliza e inquieta a partes iguales. Incluida en su disco Kid A (2000), Everything In Its Right Place es una oda a la confusión y el desorden a pesar de que su estribillo diga que todo está en su lugar. Y por eso la seleccionaron para abrir la película Vanilla Sky (ese pésimo remake yankee del film de Amenábar, Abre los Ojos, con Tom Cruise a la cabeza).

Las notas iniciales son asombrosas. Nunca tan poco había tenido tanta personalidad. Así que al ver el anuncio, no necesité más de cinco segundos para reconocerla. Por cierto, el anuncio es tremendo… Genial combinación de imágenes de ajedrez, con la música y el poema de Omar Kayyam:

The Source & Candi Staton – You Got The Love

You Got The LoveEl otro día, escuchando el disco debut de Florence + The Machine, una canción me sonaba especialmente. Y era esta versión de You Got The Love. Si os gustaba el programa de televisión Planeta Finito (famosos recorriendo ciudades del mundo), conoceréis de sobra esta melodía, pues era la cabecera del mismo.

Pero yo me sigo quedando con el remix que hizo The Source junto a la voz de Candi Staton, una cantante soul que brilló con fuerza en la época de los 70 y que volvió a la escena en 1991 con esta canción. La versión original fue escrita en 1986 por Anthony B. Stephens, Arnecia Michelle Harris y John Bellamy. Un poco de ritmo para terminar la semana.

Air – Sexy Boy

moon safariHoy, como aportación al #musicmonday, toca esta canción que tantas veces se ha pateado los platós de cine: Sexy Boy de la banda francesa Air (Moon Safari, 1998). Siempre que la escucho me imagino una escena ralentizada de venganza (no me preguntéis por qué…).

Es interesante también la versión de Franz Ferdinand. Una pizca de electrónica contra el moñismo del que se me acusa en días anteriores 😉

MGMT – Kids

oracular spectacularQué abandonadito tengo esto últimamente… Intentaré enmendar la plana, pero no prometo nada, porque el mundo de la reunión constante se ha apoderado de mi vida laboral, lo que hace que llegue a casa fundida y con pocas ganas de encender un ordenador.

Tras el momento «excusa», hoy toca canción movidita que no conocía (no soy muy pro-MGMT) pero que forma parte ya de mi banda sonora personal porque es la cabecera musical que han seleccionado para la sección «De las Ondas a la Red«, programa de radio en el que colaboro. Este Kids es el tercer single de su disco Oracular Spectacular. Como curiosidad de la melodía, el grupo tiene un contencioso con Nicolás Sarkozy, tras el uso de forma ilegal de la canción en una conferencia (ya sabéis, el precursor de ley Hadopi… en fin….).
