Nitin Sawhney - Homelands [Recomendación]Hacía tiempo que no ponía una recomendación externa. Y no es porque no tenga (hay unas cuantas en lista de espera…), pero tendréis que perdonar a la que escribe porque es un desastre. Ésta viene de la mano de Duczen:

Hay unas cuantas buenas canciones contenidas en ese trabajo de Nitin Sawhney (Beyond skin, 1999). Tal vez la más conocida es Letting go. Es un tema impresionantemente evocador. Por demasiados motivos que no vienen al caso a mí me recuerda a ese tipo de nostalgia agradable que se nutre de la tristeza y la melancolía, pero anteriormente me producía ternura y una deliciosa sensación de felicidad relajada… aunque yo siempre he preferido homelands (mi recomendación), porque además de transmitirme también todo lo anterior, me hace sentir que en este mundo vivimos muchas almas, todas diferentes y todas iguales, que podemos compartir belleza. Es un magistral ejemplo de fusión cultural.

Me gustaría haceros partícipe de esta cantautora estadounidense de Jazz. Su nombre Lizz Wright. Un título… probad con Speak Your Heart (The Orchard, 2008). Una voz cálida que despierta sentidos dormidos, movidos por su contralto.

La balada de Queen, Too much love will kill you, me gustó mucho. No la conocía y ya se ha colado en mi iTunes/iPod. Así, y como creo que este tipo de Power Ballads suele gustar mucho, ahí va otra que me encanta: Send Me An Angel de los Scorpions (Crazy World, 1990).

The Doors fue una banda que se formó en 1965 y se disolvió en 1973 a causa de la muerte de su carismático líder, Jim Morrison. Aún con estos pocos años de actividad, el talento creador y la filosofía vital, así como las circunstancias de la desaparición del grupo, hicieron que The Doors cruzaran las puertas de la inmortalidad, trascendiendo el infinito. Una de sus canciones: Riders in the storm (L.A. Woman, 1971), entre otras muchas. Si quieres saber más, la Wikipedia alberga una completísima página en castellano sobre el grupo y su líder.

The Police – Every Breath You Take [Recomendación]

The Police - Every Breath You TakeLa recomendación de esta semana viene de la mano de Lady T. Le paso a ella el micrófono:
En mi opinión la mejor canción de este grupo británico, y eso que hay competencia, Roxane, So lonely o Every little thing she does is magic entre otras… Según wikipedia, el grupo se formó en 1977 y tocaron oficialmente hasta marzo de 1984 (nunca emitieron un comunicado sobre su disolución). En el momento de su separación, era el grupo más popular y con más ventas del mundo. Terminaron su carrera con un disco reconocido por la crítica como una de sus mejores producciones: Synchronicity (1983), en la cual se encuentra, Every Breath You Take.

Posteriormente, Puff Daddy con Faith Evans y 112 hicieron una nueva versión conocida como I’ll be missing you dedicada a «The Notorious B.I.G. aka Christopher Wallace (Mayo 21, 1972 – Marzo 9, 1997)». Con un ritmo diferente y retoques en las letras y coros, la canción no deja de poner los pelos de punta.
